San Giovanni D’Asso itself is a very peaceful village set in the Crete Senese Hills south of Siena. It is an ideal location to have a tranquil holiday. However it is also a superb base from which to partake in a variety of activities.
We can offer/organise the following activities:
- Wine Tasting
This area is famous for its red wine, Rosso & Brunello di Montalcino, Nobile di Montepulciano and Chianti. . We can organise a Half Day or Full day Tour, including lunch in a vineyard, with the chance to see how the wines are made and to taste a selection of wonderful wines.
- Cheese Tasting
This area is famous for Pecorino Cheese. Pecora is the Italian word for Sheep and Pecorino is Sheep’s Cheese. You can find it fresh, semi-aged or aged and each has its own distinct texture and flavor. In addition you will find Pecorino with nuts, or wrapped in vine leaves or with truffle inside. We will take you to see how the cheese is made and to taste a selection on an organic farm here in the area.
- Cooking Lessons
We can put you in contact with Taste Tuscany who organise Cooking Lessons. Learn to make typical delicious Tuscan recipes in the ambience of a Tuscan country house. Hand on practical lessons including how to make home-made pasta, followed by a relaxed lunch.
- Horse Riding
Spend a half or full day meandering the hills of the Val D’Orcia with an experienced guide and trained horses. All levels of equestrian rider are catered for. Lessons are also available.
- Hot Air Balloon Ride
Gaze over the Val D’orcia and Crete Senese from above . Start off early in the morning and enjoy the sunrise whilst drifting over the countryside, wherever the wind takes you. Finish with a mid morning superb champagne breakfast upon landing.
- Spa Bath & Treatments
Relax in a pool and/or taking a curative or beauty treatment. We have an alliance with one Spa in Rapolano Terme– La Querciolaia – where our guests can benefit from a reduced entrance fee to the Baths and a discount on all treatments.
- Truffle Hunting
Take a relaxed country walk with a truffle expert and his dogs in the search for the elusive White Truffle. Finish the morning with a truffle tasting/light lunch.
- Mountain Biking
We have a contact with an experience Mountain Bike Guide, who can take you for an amazing ride through the Orcia Valley. Be warned – there are lots of hills! All levels of experience catered for.
- Museums & Galleries
We can give you all sorts of information on the Art Galleries and Museums in Florence and other areas. For Florence we can also organise Guided Tours.
